A Day To Ponder

It had never been easy going through Chinese New Year festival. Of all the 365 days, the most I disliked is Chinese New Year.

Thinking it back, I do not have any CNY cherished moments but all are vague collection of memories. Just like bits and pieces of jigsaw puzzle. What I do like in CYN are the foods; bak gua, pineapple tart, love letters, egg rolls and my mum's speciality the steam chicken. Heavenly delicious. YUMMY!!

I remembered when I was a kid, every CNY (1st day) my family will never failed to bring us to Singapore Tang Dynasty Village (already closed down) or How Par Villa. Back then I always thought it the same old, silly and boring things. But I do not know why as I grown up, it was those moments that I MISSES the most.

And at every CNY (2nd day), my mum would brought us to only ONE relative house to "Bai Nian" (visit). And my dad had never once join us. I NEVER knew why.

For CNY eve, it was an important day for all Chinese community. It is held only ONCE in a year to have reunion dinner.

No matter how FAR you are or how BUSY you are, you gotta to come home for reunion dinner. That is what I always been taught by the elders or in school.

An IDEAL reunion dinner would be having family and relatives sitting around a big round table having a great feast (steamboat, yu sheng and etc), happily chit chat.

But mine was never close to an ideal dinner. Either they will all busy or imagine one eat in the kitchen, one eat in the living room and another eat in the room. I had never fully understand what is the significant of it.

Apart from that I am consider fortunate, I always had 2 reunion dinner. One at my dad side, and at with my mum side. I had to buy grocery separately. Ha ha..

I am deeply sorry to some who had asked me out to "bai nian" and I normally gave it a pass. It just remind me how alone I am.

I do not know why I dislike CNY, maybe one of the reasons are it remind me of loneliness ever since my parents are divorced.

Through my CNY memories are vague but as I look through my cupboard, there are numbers of photos that recapture my hearts. And it just kept me going!! Ha ha..
